Where the shop came from

Refined x WBco is the skincare arm of Refined Medical Aesthetics, the nurse-led clinic I run in Seaton Delaval, near Whitley Bay. I am Rachel - an NMC-registered aesthetic nurse and independent prescriber. The shop started because patients kept asking me what I used, what I recommended, and where to buy it, and I got tired of writing the same list out by hand.

Why a skincare shop at all

The clinic treats concerns that sit under the skin - wrinkles, volume loss, skin quality, breakouts. Most of that gets better faster when the homecare is sorted. If a patient comes in for microneedling or a polynucleotide course but their cleanser is stripping their barrier, half the treatment is wasted. So the shop is not separate from the clinic - it is the daily-routine half of the same conversation.

What "nurse-picked" means in practice

Every product here is something I either use myself, recommend in a clinic consultation, or both. I do not stock things because a brand rep sends me samples. I do not stock 40 cleansers because someone might want one. The full range is 10 SKUs. That is on purpose - skincare is not supposed to be a 12-step ritual, it is supposed to work.

My criteria when I add something:

• Does it actually do what it says, on real skin, consistently?
• Is the ingredient list honest - no buzzword actives at throwaway concentrations?
• Would I be comfortable recommending it to a first-time patient with no context?
• Does it play nicely with clinic treatments (especially injectables, boosters, and microneedling)?

If a product fails any of those, it does not make it into the shop. Some rejected brands are very famous. I do not mind.

How the shop fits with the clinic

If you are considering a clinic treatment, look at the clinic site first (refinedmedicalaesthetics.uk) - the shop is not a substitute for a consultation, and I will always say so if I think you need one. If you have already been to the clinic, the shop is where to find the homecare I mentioned in your appointment without having to dig through DMs for the link.
